According to Disneyland Paris statistics, the park uses over 11,000 meters of garland and 11.5 million lights to create its winter wonderland – enough to wrap around Mount Everest three times!

I. Christmas Season Highlights
A. Special Shows & Entertainment
The best part about coming to Disneyland Paris at Christmas are the special Christmas parades ! They offer a captivating variety of holiday experiences that truly capture the magic of the holiday season. One of the highlights is the Disney Electrical Sky Parade, where dazzling lights and music create a breathtaking visual feast over the main castle. It starts at 21h50 every day, so don’t miss it ! It is followed by the Disney Illuminations show, which takes place at the same place at 22h00. Make sure to be there at least 20 minutes earlier to have a good spot (in front of the Cinderella Castle). Pro tip: if your budget allows, you can reserve your spot for 19 euros on the Disney mobile application, to avoid standing in the cold with kids 30-60 minutes waiting.
Visitors can also enjoy Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade, featuring beloved characters in festive attire, as they march through the park spreading holiday cheer. The Let’s Sing Christmas! stage show invites the Mickey Mouse fans to join in joyful caroling, while character meet-and-greets allow for unforgettable photo opportunities with Disney favorites dressed in charming holiday costumes. Additionally, live music performances throughout the park fill the air with seasonal melodies, making for an unforgettable Christmas celebration !
B. Seasonal Decorations
Let’s talk about Disney magic during Christmas time! It’s the most wonderful time of the year….! Have you ever dreamed of stepping into a real-life winter wonderland? Well, that’s exactly what happens at Disneyland Paris during the festive season!
First thing first! Main Street U.S.A. is not just your regular theme park entrance – it transforms into something straight out of those dreamy Christmas movies you watched as a kid. (I still watch them.) Picture this: twinkling lights everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE!), gorgeous garlands, and that special holiday atmosphere that just makes your heart skip a beat.
But wait until you see the star of the show… The giant Christmas tree! Standing proud and tall, this beauty is decked out with the most colorful ornaments you can imagine, topped with a star that sparkles so bright it might just rival the real ones! Fun fact: guests gather around it all day long for pictures, so maybe try early morning or late evening for that perfect shot!
And speaking of magical sights – the Sleeping Beauty Castle gets its own winter makeover! Think shimmering icicles and touches of snow that make it look even more fairy-tale-like than usual (if that’s even possible!). Disney Village doesn’t stay behind either, bringing that cozy Christmas feeling that just makes you want to grab a hot chocolate and stroll around forever.
Every corner of the park seems designed for that perfect holiday photo. Trust me on this one – your Instagram feed will thank you later! Whether you’re 5 or 95, this magical Christmas experience at Disneyland Paris hits different. It’s not just about the decorations – it’s about feeling like you’re part of a real Christmas fairy tale!
C. Special Holiday Activities
Now, let’s dive into the most magical part of Disney during Christmas – all those special holiday activities that make your visit extra special! First thing first! Meeting Santa at Disney is not your regular mall experience (trust me on this one!). Located in his cozy seat at Fantasyland, the big man in red welcomes little dreamers and not-so-little ones alike! Just keep in mind he is available for photos only until the 25th of December, after that he needs to return to the North Pole! (Even though the Chistmas celebrations will continue until January 7th). Pro tip: booking a time slot in advance is a must unless waiting in line is your idea of fun!
But wait, there’s more! Have you ever tried your hand at Christmas crafting… Disney style? The workshops scattered around the park are pure magic! From creating your own ornaments to decorating cookies, these hands-on experiences bring out the creative elf in everyone. I still have my Mickey-shaped ornament from last year, and it’s my tree’s proudest decoration!
Speaking of magical experiences – the holiday character dining is something that hits different! Picture this: enjoying a festive feast while Mickey and friends, dressed in their Christmas best, stop by your table. Warning: the photos you’ll take here might become your family’s most cherished memories! Pro tip : Reservation is mandatory and you should do it know!
And don’t even get me started on the Christmas shopping! The boutiques transform into winter wonderlands themselves, filled with exclusive holiday merchandise that you won’t find any other time of the year. From festive ears to limited-edition ornaments, these treasures make perfect souvenirs or gifts (… if you can resist keeping them for yourself!). Look at this cute Mickey Nut-Cracker that I found!!
II. Practical Planning Information
A. Tickets & Packages
Let’s talk money and tickets! You know, the part that might make your wallet a bit nervous, but I promise to help you get the most magical bang for your buck (or euro)! During Christmas season at Disneyland Paris, ticket options can feel as overwhelming as choosing your favorite Disney character (impossible, right?).
Pro tip: The best ticket option often depends on your travel dates! Are you planning to visit during the peak Christmas season? Then multi-day tickets are your best friends! Not only do they cost less per day (… yes, you read that right!), but they also give you enough time to soak in all that festive magic without rushing. I learned this the hard way when I tried to do everything in one day and ended up missing half the Christmas shows!
Now, let’s talk about those special holiday packages that might make your eyes sparkle! Combining your hotel stay with park tickets often comes with magical perks like Extra Magic Time (early park access) and sometimes even special dining offers. Have you ever dreamed of waking up literally minutes away from the castle? Well, these packages can make that happen! Warning: booking a Disney hotel during Christmas season requires planning ahead… way ahead! They recently opened the New York Hotel, I would love to try that one! If you have already stayed there, let me know your experiences and tips!
For Annual Pass holders out there (high five if you are one!), here’s something crucial to know – Christmas season usually comes with some blockout dates, especially around December 25th to January 1st. Trust me, checking these dates before planning your trip saves you from that disappointing moment at the entrance.
Speaking of planning ahead, booking 6-8 months in advance can save you up to 30% on packages (… imagine all the extra Mickey-shaped treats you could buy with those savings!). I managed to book my last Christmas visit in March, and the difference in prices was enough to upgrade my hotel category (but I invested the difference in off-site hotels) !
Want to know the best part? The official Disneyland Paris website regularly updates their offers, sometimes including exclusive deals that you won’t find anywhere else. My secret trick: sign up for their newsletter to be the first to know about new Christmas deals!
Remember, while choosing the cheapest option might be tempting, sometimes spending a bit more on things like hotel location or meal plans can actually save you time and energy – and during Christmas at Disney, those are just as valuable as money!
prices exactly in a timetable
For the price comparaison, I use these options:
The main Disneyand Paris Website They all have a good cancellation policy and prices may differ. Sometimes these offer good deals, make sure to check them out !
B. Accommodation Options on site
Let’s talk about where to rest your head after a magical day of Christmas celebrations! First thing first! Disney hotels during the festive season are not just places to sleep – they’re part of the whole Christmas experience! Each hotel gets its own festive makeover, from lobby Christmas trees that will make your jaw drop to carolers filling the halls with holiday tunes (… and yes, I may have joined them singing once or twice!).
Now, about those holiday room rates – they can be quite jolly or make your wallet a bit nervous, depending on when you book! Pro tip: mid-week stays in early December tend to be easier on the budget than Christmas week itself. I discovered this little trick when I spontaneously decided to search for a Disney trip as a birthday gift for my sister, and I was shocked by the difference!
Speaking of perks – staying on-site during the holidays hits different! From Extra Magic Time to meet characters in your hotel (in their Christmas outfits!), to being just steps away from the festive atmosphere, it’s like having Christmas magic on tap! Trust me, there’s something special about seeing the castle sparkle with Christmas lights from your hotel window!
These prices I’m about to share are what I found during my research for early December 2024 (… prices during Christmas week itself? They tend to jump faster than Tinker Bell!).
Let’s dive into three different experiences, from fancy to budget-friendly!
Disneyland Hotel Have you ever dreamed of staying in a fairy tale castle? Well, this newly renovated 5-star beauty just reopened! For 2 persons, 2 nights including park tickets, you’re looking at around 2,200€ (… yes, I had to catch my breath too!). But wait – you get royal treatment with princess-themed rooms and the closest possible location to the parks!
Disney New York Hotel -The Art of Marvel Have you ever wanted to sleep in a superhero’s headquarters? This recently reimagined 4-star marvel (pun totally intended!) offers an immersive experience that’ll make comic book fans’ hearts race! For 2 persons, 2 nights including park tickets, you’re looking at around 1,600€ (… my wallet just did a superhero shriek!). But wait – you get an incredible Marvel-themed environment with rooms decorated with stunning comic art, life-sized character statues in the lobby, and interactive Marvel experiences that’ll make you feel like you’re part of the Avengers!
Newport Bay Club – The Maritime Christmas This 4-star gem transforms into a nautical winter wonderland during Christmas! For 2 persons, 2 nights with park tickets, expect around 1,100€. Ask for a lake-view room – the morning mist over the water with Christmas decorations is pure magic!
Hotel Cheyenne – The Wild West Christmas Yeehaw! This 2-star cowboy-themed hotel brings a unique twist to Christmas! For 2 persons, 2 nights including park tickets, you’re looking at approximately 700€. Trust me, seeing Woody and Jessie’s Christmas decorations in this Western setting hits different!
These prices can vary depending on your exact dates, and booking early usually means better rates! Want my honest advice? The Newport Bay Club offers the best balance between magic and budget.
B.2 Accommodation Options off site
But hey, if Disney hotels are stretching your budget a bit too far, partner hotels are fantastic alternatives that still keep you close to the magic! While you might miss out on the full Disney theming, many of these hotels deck their halls for Christmas too. Have you ever considered staying at one of these hidden gems? They often offer shuttle services to the parks and can save you enough euros for extra Christmas shopping!
Val d’Europe is a real treasure when it comes to staying near Disney without the Disney price tag (… and trust me, your wallet will thank you later!). There’s a huge shopping center and supermarket just 5 minutes away, perfect for stocking up on French treats!
The Aparthotel Adagio is a fantastic option, with rates starting at about 100€ per night. I stayed there once and loved being just one RER stop away from the parks! Speaking of transportation – these hotels are so close that you can even walk to Disney (about 20 minutes) or hop on the free shuttle bus if you’re not feeling like a morning stroll!
Want something even more budget-friendly? The B&B Hotel has rooms from 80€ per night. Warning: book this one early because it fills up faster than Space Mountain’s queue on a busy day! It offers free shuttle to the park every 20 minutes, too! I stayed here and I loved it. All these hotels get a touch of Christmas spirit too, even if it’s not quite as over-the-top as Disney’s own hotels (… but then again, what is?).
Another great option is the Eklo hotel. Prices start at 70 euros per nuit !: Although not Disney themed, it is modern, very clean and offers a great breakfast buffet. (The rooms are built in 3D woden boxes, so everything is made out of wood, it is kinda cool).
Dream Castle Hotel Marne La Vallee is yet another option that would make you feel princessy. I would rather recommend this during summer, as it has a pool and a sauna, but the architecture of the building and the vibe makes it a good choice at any time.
You could get an even better price for quality if you get a place somewhere between Paris and Disneyland. The RER train connects Paris to Disneyland and is the fastest way possible to get between the two points. I would recommend basing closer to the Parks if the you are coming especially for this occasion. Both parks (Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Park) are open until 23h in the evening, so your priority would be to have less transportation time at night! The last time I went, we chose to stay next to the Val d’Europe RER station which gave us muliple benefits:
just one stop to the main Park Entrance, for a ticket cost of 5 euros / pers / way
close to a bunch of restaurants (go check out the … as they have amazing french dishes and a really cool interior design with A LOT of plants. For all the plant lovers out there, like me, this is a really cool place)

- in one hour you reach the center of Paris with no other Metro connections, it really is easy!!
C. Dining During Christmas Season
Now it’s time for the details about Disney’s Christmas dining magic! The holiday season brings some seriously special menus to the park that will make any foodie’s heart skip a beat. At fancy spots like Walt’s and Captain Jack’s, they transform their regular menus into festive feasts that would make even Remy jealous (if you are asking who is Remy, please revise your Disney knowledge ASAP)! Imagine indulging in traditional French Christmas dishes with a Disney twist (… and trust me, the presentation alone is worth taking pictures!).
How to reserve a Christmas restaurant at Disneyland Paris? For the best shot at your dream Christmas meal, hop on the Disneyland Paris app at exactly 12:01 AM Paris time, 60 days
before your visit. That’s how the magic of advance planning works at Disney!
The character dining scene during Christmas is pure magic. The Christmas brunch at Inventions is a huge dream of mine (never tried it but heard a lot about it!) – watching Snow White twirl by in her holiday dress while you sip on festive hot chocolate creates memories that last forever. But keep in mind- these character meals are the most sought-after experiences during the season.
After fine dining, you could take a stop and enjoy one of the many seasonal treats scattered throughout the park! Each year brings new festive surprises – from hot chocolate topped with Mickey-shaped marshmallows to gingerbread cookies that smell like Christmas spirit itself. The special holiday cupcakes at Cable Car Bake Shop never fail to catch my eye (… and end up in my stomach!).
III. Strategy & Tips
A. Crowd Management
Managing crowds at Disneyland Paris during Christmas requires strategic planning and awareness of peak and quiet times. To avoid the busiest days, you should check the Disney Paris Crown Calendar for 2024, which basically says to stay clear of weekends and public holidays, particularly from mid-December through the new year when crowds swell! The quietest times are generally early in December and the first week of January, making these windows ideal for a less hectic experience. Aim for the beginning of the season to experience the festive spirit without the peak rush. I did that with my sisters last November, for the Christmas celebrations at Disneyland Paris. We got there on the last weekend of November and managed to do all the rides, see all the parades and re-do our favourite rides again at night ! Comparing to my other early experience, 5 years ago on the 21st of December: I went with my husband to be. We had a great time but only managed to make 4 attractions, see the parades AND freeze to death !
Consider booking your time slot for popular rides in advance using Disney Premier Access to skip the lines. Staying at Disney Hotels nearby can also grant you early park access (one hour before everyone else), letting you get on Space Mountain, Phantom Manor or It’s a small world (my favourite!!!) before the park buzz really kicks in. Always check for any updates on park hours or closures before heading out, so you’re well-prepared. Trust me, with these tips, your Disney adventure will be nothing short of magical!
A.2. FastPass Strategy for Christmas at Disneyland Paris
Prioritize Popular Attractions: Focus on high-demand rides like Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. These tend to have the longest wait times, especially during peak holiday periods.
Use the Disneyland App: The Disneyland Paris app is a game-changer. It provides real-time updates on wait times and availability of FastPasses. Check it frequently to maximize your time and snag FastPasses for your desired rides.
Arrive Early: Aim to arrive at the park before opening. This will give you a head start on securing FastPasses for the most popular attractions before the crowds descend.
Stagger Your Visits: If you plan to visit both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park, consider staggering your visits. Use FastPasses strategically in one park in the morning and the other in the afternoon, allowing you to enjoy attractions without excessive wait times.
Monitor Return Times: Keep an eye on the return times available for FastPasses. Sometimes, you may find that certain attractions have availability later in the day, allowing you to plan accordingly and make the most of your experience.
Plan for the Evening: Many guests leave the parks after the day’s shows and fireworks, creating a perfect window to enjoy popular attractions with shorter lines. Utilize any remaining FastPasses in the evening to beat the rush. Honestly, you might not even need the Fast Pass at that point.
Dining Reservations: If you’re planning on dining at popular restaurants, consider reserving a table during off-peak hours. This will help you enjoy a meal without cutting into your FastPass time.
B. Weather Preparation for November and December at Disneyland Paris
Planning a trip to Disneyland Paris in November and December can be daunting, especially when you’re unsure what the weather will be like. The average temperatures can range from chilly to downright cold, with the possibility of rain or even snow. You wouldn’t want an unprepared family trip ruined by the biting cold or a sudden downpour. Plus, you need to ensure the kids are comfortable and happy so you can all enjoy the magic of Disneyland.
To prepare for your enchanting holiday, check the average temperatures for the months—typically between 5 to 10 degrees Celsius (41 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit). Be sure to pack layers, including warm jackets, hats, and waterproof shoes to keep everyone cozy and dry. Don’t forget essentials like mittens and an umbrella! If the weather turns sour, Disneyland Paris offers many indoor attractions, such as “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Phantom Manor,” and the stunning shows within the Walt Disney Studios. Always have a backup plan and keep activities in mind that allow you to enjoy the magic of Disney—rain or shine! A little preparation goes a long way in ensuring your family trip is filled with joy and unforgettable memories.
The best in advance purchase that you can make is a packable raincoat. From what I’ve seen, they don’t sell these on site, even though it rains in Val-de-Marne two days out of three!! Check out this ones from amazon. This is another great option, maybe a bit more fashion. Check it out on amazon.
C. Photography Tips
Best photo locations
Here are some of the best spots for capturing the Christmas magic at Disneyland Paris:
1. Sleeping Beauty Castle (Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant)
Why: It’s the iconic centerpiece, beautifully decorated for Christmas with lights and garlands.
Tip: Snap your photo from the bridge at twilight when the castle’s holiday lights turn on!
Pro tip: For the best castle photo, go on the left side of the castle, you will have the spot for yourself !
2. Main Street, U.S.A.
Why: With festive decorations, twinkling lights, and a giant Christmas tree, it feels straight out of a holiday movie.
Tip: Capture the street from different angles, especially when it snows (Disney magic included!).
3. Town Square’s Christmas Tree
Why: The towering Christmas tree at the park entrance, decorated in classic Disney style, is a must-have backdrop.
Tip: Take the photo from a low angle to include the sparkling tree with the castle peeking in the background.
4. The Enchanted Christmas Parade Route
Why: During the Christmas parade, characters in holiday costumes add a magical touch.
Tip: Capture Mickey and friends in festive attire with Main Street in the background.
5. Adventureland’s Snow-Covered Cabins
Why: The cabins have a snowy overlay that gives a wintery, rustic vibe.
Tip: Perfect for cozy, festive close-ups, and less crowded than Main Street!
6. Fantasyland’s “It’s a Small World” Exterior
Why: The colorful facade of It’s a Small World shines even brighter with Christmas lights.
Tip: Get there at dusk to see it lit up in holiday colors for that magical glow.
7. The Disneyland Hotel Entrance
Why: Decked out in Victorian holiday decor, it’s a charming photo spot before you enter the park.
Tip: Capture the grand hotel facade with festive garlands and wreaths for a perfect opening shot.
8. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle Illuminations Show
Why: The evening light show casts beautiful projections over the castle.
Tip: Use a long exposure setting for an enchanting shot of the lit-up castle against the night sky.
9. In front of the Bella Notra Pizzeria
Why: This cute pink house shows pictures perfectly the story behind Dsineyland.
Tip: go during the hours when french people are not eating to avoid croowds in the picture (avoid 12-14h and 19h-20h)
Timing for Christmas lights
At Disneyland Paris, Christmas lights usually start twinkling around sunset, which is typically between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM in winter.
Here are some tips for the best timing:
Golden Hour (4:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Just before sunset, the light is softer and perfect for capturing the decorations in natural light.
Twilight (5:00 PM – 5:30 PM): This is the magical time when the Christmas lights are on, but there’s still a hint of daylight, giving a soft, warm glow in your photos.
Evening (After 6:00 PM): By now, it’s fully dark, and the lights truly pop. Perfect for capturing the sparkling castle or Main Street with a festive night ambiance.
PhotoPass options
When you’re at Disneyland Paris, especially during the holidays, there’s a lot of magic worth capturing! The PhotoPass+ option is your golden ticket to unlimited downloads of all those perfect Disney moments. For around €75, this option gives you access to photos taken by professional photographers at select rides, character meets, and the most Instagrammable spots. You can grab it online, in the park, or even bundle it with some hotel packages.
How it works: you flash your PhotoPass card, and voilà—all your photos get linked to one account. Plus, you’ve got an entire year to download, share, and print them. So no rush—relive the magic as many times as you want! It’s up to you to decide if the price is worth it or not. Have you already tried it? Let me know in the comments!
Best angles for castle photos
For picture-perfect angles of Disneyland Paris’s Sleeping Beauty Castle, here are some of the best spots and tips:
Main Street, U.S.A.: A classic approach with the entire castle framed by festive decorations during the holidays. Stand further back down the street to capture the castle with holiday lights or decorations in the foreground for extra charm.
Right Side of the Castle (near the wishing well): From here, you can catch a more intimate angle that showcases the castle’s turrets against a natural background, especially beautiful with a bit of sunset glow.
Adventureland Bridge: This angle offers a unique view with the castle peeking through lush greenery, giving it a secluded, enchanted feel. Perfect for an off-the-beaten-path look.
Inside the Castle: Head up to the balcony to get a panoramic view of Fantasyland. Not only do you capture the castle from within, but you also get a dreamy perspective over the park.
From the Central Plaza Gardens: Snap from the gardens in front of the castle for a colorful foreground, especially with holiday decorations or blooming flowers in spring.
For the best lighting, try late afternoon for golden hour shots or dusk to capture the castle as the holiday lights start to twinkle!
IV. Sample Itineraries
A. One-Day Christmas Visit
First thing, you want to make sure you will get there early! Both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park open at 9h30 in the morning. This means you need to be there at 9h maximum! You will have to pass the secuirty check and then the ticket check, which means you have to stay in line twice. Get yourself enough time for this, so you can be at the main entrance at 9h.
You could visit both amusement parks on one day, I did that once. It is possible but you will miss on attractions in both of the Parks, not to say on the parades. I will definetly recommend doing 2 days if you want to visit both parks. On site, they recommend starting with the Disneyland Park in the morning and leave the other one for the afternoon. I highly recommend that too, this will give you the perfect time slots for the attractions of each park.
So, once you get through the Disneyland Park entrance, your main priority would be to go make your MUST ride. Why? because this is the time of the day when the crowds are fewer. After your first ride, the seond priority would be to take your Disneyland picture in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle ! Check out the best spost to take your picture in the article.
Other relevant informations for organising your day is to keep in mind that attractions like:
- Peter Pan’s flight (don’t miss it, even as an adult)
- It’s a small world
- Big thunder mountain
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Phantom Manor
can get really, really crowded. It is normal to wait in line for 50 minutes up to 2 hours for there. This is why it is important to plan ahead. Do these early in the morning, during the french lunch (12h-14h), just before the closing time or during one of the parades. This is the moment when you can get the waiting time down to 5-10 minutes!
Since I mentioned the lunch time in France, it is important to keep in mind this is a huge rule over here : french people eat in between 12h and 14h and starting from 19h in the evening! This means all the food stops or buffet restaurants will be crowded during this time. Make sure you get your place just before these hours or after. If you are looking to fine dine, they might serve only during these times. (Make sure to reserve two months in advance!).
After all your rides are done, the best thing to do is to catch up a Disney Show or a Disney Parade, while waiting for the big lights show at the end of the day. Disney Electrical Sky Parade is where dazzling lights and music create a breathtaking visual feast over the main castle. It starts at 21h50 every day, so don’t miss it ! It is followed by the Disney Illuminations show, that starts right after. Do your shopping just before this time and make sure to get your place by 21h20.
B. Multi-Day Holiday Experience
If you have two days (or more!) to do the Parks, then your schedule would be more relaxed. What a magical experience! You could either divide your time for a Park per day, or get the best of both parks (Disneyland Paris and World Disney Studios Park) at different times of the days, trying to avoid the crowds. Personally, I prefer this version. If you check the Disneyland application, you will be able to see the waiting line times for every attraction, allowing you to choose where to spend the next hours.
Here is, in my opinion, a perfect two-days plan for visiting both Disneyland Parks:
Day 1: Immersive Exploration
Morning in Disneyland Park: Start with classic attractions like Peter Pan’s Flight and Big Thunder Mountain to set the magical tone. Use the Disneyland app to monitor wait times so you can prioritize rides with shorter queues.
Afternoon in Walt Disney Studios Park: After lunch, head to the Studios. Try crowd-favorites like Ratatouille: The Adventure and Tower of Terror, and don’t miss Avengers Campus if you’re a Marvel fan! Switching parks mid-day helps dodge peak times.
Day 2: Park-Hopping Magic
Morning Strategy: Begin in whichever park you felt you missed out on the previous day, and grab any character meet-and-greets you didn’t get to. With two full days, you’ll also have time to revisit your favorites!
Evening Show Time: Wrap up with the fireworks at Disneyland Park. Arrive early to secure a great viewing spot on Main Street.
General Tips
Entertainment Scheduling: Parades and shows like Disney Stars on Parade and Illuminations can have peak viewing crowds, so grab a spot early or plan for shows right after meals.
App Planning: The Disneyland app will be your best friend for keeping an eye on wait times, restaurant availability, and character appearances.
V. Budget Considerations
A. Cost-Saving Tips
Here’s a guide packed with cost-saving tips for your Disneyland Paris adventure, ensuring you get the most magic for your money!
Best Booking Timing
Off-Peak Seasons: Visit during off-peak times (mid-January to mid-March and mid-September to mid-November) to snag lower hotel rates and fewer crowds. Booking during these periods can save you up to 30% on accommodations .
Advance Booking: Try to book your tickets and hotel packages at least a few months in advance. This not only locks in better rates but also gives you access to early bird discounts and special offers.
Meal Plan Values
Meal Plans: Consider purchasing a meal plan that fits your needs. Disneyland Paris offers various plans, including quick-service and character dining options. These can provide significant savings if you plan to dine on-site for multiple meals .
Pack Snacks: Bring your own snacks and water bottles. While Disneyland Paris allows you to carry small snacks, prices in the park can be steep. Having a few treats on hand can help you save while keeping your energy up for all the fun.
Transport Options
Public Transport: Utilize the RER train from central Paris to Disneyland Paris, which is often cheaper than taxi services. Tickets range from about €7.60 one way, making it a budget-friendly choice .
Shuttle Services: If you’re staying at a nearby hotel, check if they offer free shuttle services to the parks. Many hotels provide this as a perk for guests, saving you on transport costs. There are also paid shuttle services, like this one here.
By planning your visit smartly and utilizing these tips, you can enjoy all the magic of Disneyland Paris without breaking the bank!
B. What to buy BEFORE going to Disneyland Paris?
bought them before going which saved us a lot of money !
Let’s talk Disney prep! First, those smart packing tricks that’ll save you both money and hassle during your magical Christmas adventure.
I already said this in the article, but I can’t stress this out enough ! Buy your Mickey ears before going ! They are 3-4 times less exepensive than within the Park and you get the benefit of having them from the first moment you enter (when there are less people around for the photos!!). We had these ones and they were perfect !
The plastic raincoat is an absolute game-changer! Get a lightweight, compact one that fits easily in your backpack. Here is one good option. Instead of wrestling with an umbrella on rides or during packed parade moments, you’ll be dry and ready for magic.
Those Mickey Christmas light-up ears? Genius move! Buying them before arriving can save you a solid 20-30€. I’ve seen folks spend more in the parks and regret it later (… been there, done that!). I found amazing ones on Etsy or on Amazon. Or even better, do them yourself. Here is a tutorial.
A Polaroid camera is another brilliant idea – instant memories that capture the Disney sparkle! I have this Instax one, on mint green but they have more color options.
Portable phone charger (Disney days are long, and your phone will be working overtime for photos and app navigation)
Comfortable walking shoes with good winter grip – I always go for Allbirds, they are honestly the best on the market. These ones are water and odor repellent.
Reusable water bottle (save money on park drinks!)
Small first-aid kit with blister patches (trust me, your feet will thank you)
Hand warmers for those chilly December days

VI. Disneyland Paris for Families: What You Need to Know
1. The Best Rides for Kids of All Ages
Disneyland Paris has rides for every age group, so you can keep the whole family smiling. For the little ones, It’s a Small World is a classic choice—colorful, gentle, and just the right length. Peter Pan’s Flight is also a huge hit with younger kids, whisking them away on a magical flight above London. For slightly older kids who crave more excitement, Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast bring just the right amount of thrill while staying family-friendly. During the Christmas season, holiday decorations add a festive touch to each ride, creating a whole new level of enchantment.
2. Family-Friendly Amenities Like Baby Care Centers and Stroller Rentals
Disneyland Paris is set up for families with young children, making it easy to manage the day. You’ll find Baby Care Centers located conveniently around the parks, where parents can change diapers, nurse, or simply take a short break. Need a stroller? No problem! Disneyland Paris offers stroller rentals to make navigating the parks with little ones a breeze. Tip: use the Disneyland app to locate these amenities quickly!
3. Tips for Keeping the Whole Family Entertained (and Sane!)
Keeping everyone happy at Disneyland during the holidays might sound like a tall order, but a little planning goes a long way. Use FastPasses or Disney Premier Access for the most popular rides to minimize waiting time. When it’s time for a break, head to family-friendly spots like Frontierland playgrounds or cozy up for holiday shows and parades that run frequently throughout the day. And don’t forget to keep snacks handy—there are food kiosks and quick-service restaurants scattered around the parks, many with kid-approved options like hot chocolate and holiday-themed treats.
Disneyland Paris makes family travel at Christmas easy, and with these tips, you’ll keep the kids excited, the parents sane, and everyone filled with holiday joy!
VII. Disneyland Paris for Adults: How to Have a Grown-Up Disney Adventure
So you’re headed to Disneyland Paris as an adult this Christmas season? Great choice! With just the right mix of whimsy and luxury, it’s a perfect place for a sophisticated holiday escape. Here’s how to do it right:
1. Find the Hidden Gems: Lounges, Quiet Corners, and Fine Dining
Forget crowded popcorn stands—Disneyland Paris has some delightful tucked-away spots that adults will love. Start with Café Fantasia inside the Disneyland Hotel. With cozy armchairs and a cocktail list that’s more magical than you’d expect, it’s the perfect hideaway. Or, head over to Bistrot Chez Rémy in Walt Disney Studios Park for a Ratatouille-inspired fine dining experience.
For a quieter retreat, stroll down to Adventureland’s Aladdin Passage or Alice’s Curious Labyrinth in Fantasyland—both offering scenic views and a surprising amount of serenity amidst the Christmas bustle.
2. Amp Up the Thrills with Grown-Up Rides and Exclusive Experiences
You’re never too old for the rides! Start with heart-pumping attractions like Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, where the holiday lights add an extra dash of thrill. The Christmas season also brings special after-hours events that give adults access to select rides, parades, and character meet-and-greets without the typical lines.
To make your day even more adult-centric, check out the Disney Premier Access pass, which allows you to skip the lines for the biggest attractions—a true holiday lifesaver!
3. Perfect for Romance and Solo Adventures
Whether you’re a couple looking to make magical memories or a solo traveler diving into the Disney wonder, Disneyland Paris is surprisingly ideal. Imagine a romantic dinner at Auberge de Cendrillon (Cinderella’s Inn) under twinkling Christmas lights, or simply wandering Main Street with hot chocolate in hand. Christmas season offers endless romantic photo spots, from Sleeping Beauty’s Castle dressed in holiday decor to the enchanting light displays throughout the parks.
Disneyland Paris at Christmas is designed to make grown-ups feel the magic, minus the hustle. A touch of planning, a sprinkle of adventure, and a dash of festivity—that’s how you turn a holiday visit into the ultimate adult Disney experience.
VIII. Exploring Beyond the Parks: What to Do in Paris and the Surrounding Area
Ready to explore beyond the Disney bubble? You’ll be surprised how many amazing experiences are waiting just around the corner! The magic doesn’t stop at the park gates – this whole region is packed with adventures.
Let’s start with Val d’Europe, a shopping paradise that’s literally next door to Disney! Think elegant architecture and French brands that you won’t find back home. I still remember my first visit when I walked in just to grab a quick lunch and ended up spending half a day exploring! Right next to it, La Vallée Village is where luxury meets bargains (… dangerous combination for your credit card, trust me!). Picture walking through a charming French village while hunting for designer deals at places like Givenchy and Dior.
Want to add some Parisian glamour to your Disney dreams? It’s easier than you think! Hop on the RER A train and in about 40 minutes you’ll be standing under the Eiffel Tower. If the RER is not for you, you can easily book combination tickets that include both Disney and Paris attractions!
My favorites include pairing Disney with a Seine River cruise (so romantic!) or adding a Versailles Palace visit (because why not go from one castle to another?).
Speaking of tickets, you can choose from several exciting combos:
Disney + Louvre (say hi to Mona Lisa!)
or even a hop-on-hop-off bus tour that lets you see all the Paris highlights.
Remember though, Paris deserves more than just a rushed day trip. If you can, try to dedicate at least two full days to exploring the City of Light. Trust me, you’ll want time to both see the sights AND get lost in those charming little streets!
IX. Transportation & Logistics
A. Getting There
What airport to fly in?
Chareles-de Gaulle Airport is closer to Disneyland Paris but Orly Airport is easy to access too. If you want the easiest public transport, you should choose the first, but both are a good choice.
Airport transfers
Private transfers or taxi services provide a direct route with door-to-door convenience, which can be a great option for those traveling with lots of luggage or little ones in tow. Always make sure to plan ahead and check schedules, particularly during busy holiday seasons!
Magical bus ! this option is the most direct one with no planing needed. For 24 euros / person you can get straight from Orly Airport to Disneyland Paris!
Private transports options. I would go for these if you are coming in large numbers (3-4 persons).
Uber and Bolt applications are both widely used, with Bot being the less expensive. If you choose the official taxi cars, make sure to wait in line within the designed airport queues. I once got fooled by a fake taxi driver who passed just by the official taxi line and convinced me to take his taxi. I had a 160 euros drive for 25 minutes and the scare of my life. Be aware !
Train options
You can buy your ticket on your phone, via the official RATP Paris application. Check it out here. Never buy a ticket from a random person on the streets or at the entrance of the mentro !
