I’ve always been fascinated by how differently Christmas is celebrated across Europe. Growing up in Romania, our Christmas traditions were deeply rooted in Orthodox customs, family gatherings, and unique foods that I took for granted until I experienced the holiday in France and other European countries.
In my home country of Romania, Christmas feels completely different from what I now experience in France. The preparations, the timing of celebrations, even the foods we eat create a distinct holiday experience that I cherish and miss. I love this time of year so much that I can’t help but share my thoughts and observations on these beautiful cultural differences.
Join me as I take you through the diverse Christmas traditions across Europe, comparing my Romanian heritage with French celebrations and other European customs I’ve encountered during my travels. Through this personal journey, I hope to reveal the wonderful variety of ways this universal holiday comes to life across our continent – each version magical in its own unique way.
